I'm pleasantly surprised with all the Swallowed Whole love. I think I was the only one who voted for it as the best song when the album came out.

Yeah, that's weird, man. It's pretty universally loved around here. I think I'm the only one who has it at the bottom of the album. I think Pete is another one who said at one time that it was the only "good" song on the album.

I'm not a fan of Swallowed Whole. The only song I like less from LB is Sleeping By Myself.

Nah. GSMF actually sounds like great musicians caught up in a rumbling dervish of punk rock imitation. I remember Ed at the time talking about maybe wanting to make a punk record, which they didn't do, but I think 3 out of the first 4 songs on Backspacer come as close as they could now get.

Getaway is so far removed from what I like about this band, and GSMF, that I don't see how one could lump them together, other than they are both opening tracks. Getaway comes out so limp and frail and lumbers along and I just want it to end.

I'm not a huge fan of Getaway either. It's ok, like a C+. I just don't like anything about GSMF. It is one of the least enjoyable uptempo songs in the entire PJ catalog.

I hate Speed of Sound. It should be this little song with some interesting tempo shifts, but instead they went with this over the top production. It just doesn't work at all. Fucking laser sounds!
