Terrible music you used to be into.

Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

I loved Garage Days re-Revisited. One of my favorite CDs when I was in High School:

I actually agree with KD but I would throw the Garage Days re-revisited EP in just after Ride the Lightning.

Still haven't listened to all of Death Magnetic. What I've heard is okay.
That is a terrible ranking.

Death Magnetic is okay, but if you think Avocado is brickwalled, then wait till you hear Death Magnetic. Yikes!
Honestly, I am not automatically averse to brickwalling like everyone else seems to be. If a producer is just doing it for "Loudness Wars" reasons, then yeah, that's fucking stupid, but I look at it as a valid sonic tool that an artist should be able to harness if they choose to. Everyone always talks about how harsh/abrasive/unpleasant it sounds, but my reaction is always "So what?" What if an artist wants their album to sound harsh/abrasive/unpleasant? What if they're brickwalling to make a sonic statement, like Sleater-Kinney did on The Woods? I understand that it limits the dynamic range and all that, but again, so what? Maybe an artist wants to limit the dynamic range for a reason.

Much as with auto-tune, what the world really needs is a brickwalled Kanye album, so that we can process the device's potential for artistic validity.

It's a great song, albeit it lifts the riff from Diamond Head's "Sucking My Love" (Diamond Head is the band who wrote "Am I Evil").

My first Metallical show, 1986 opening for Ozzy. Didn't have to worry about hearing the new crappy stuff back then!

Badass!

My bro was a massive metal head growing up. He saw them a bunch in the 80s. I can remember being like 7-8 and my Great Grandma being pissed he had a Kill em All shirt.

He would have named my Niece "Cliff"..... had she been a boy. He is in the front row at this show.

Funny. I was in 6th grade at that time. My dad and my uncle took me to that show. It was a school night and the only way my mom let me go is if I still went to school the next day. I remember my ears ringing the whole next day in class. But at least I had my 3/4 black sleeve Ozzy shirt!

1. Master of Puppets
2. Ride the Lightning
3. And Justice for All
4. Kill 'Em All
5. Death Magnetic
6. Black Album
7. Load
8. Reload
9. St. Anger

3 and 4 are pretty close. But I'm not a huge fan of Hetfield's vocals on Kill 'Em and it lacks the atmosphere and precision of Puppets and Ride the Lightning.

I agree about the vocals. James really came into his own with Ride -> Justice. Still, Kill 'Em All is great. I love the raw energy of it, but yeah, the next three albums really have a whole different feel to them.
