the fact that Vitalogy will come in at 1 is the only reason I can take this place somewhat seriously

Which means that....
1.

Vitalogy is our #1 ranked album with a mean score of 16.2 points.
Mean: 16.2
Median: 16
Mode: 15
Vitalogy was ranked #1 by 39% of users.
82% of users ranked it in the top 3.
It was ranked lower than 5th by one user. (7th)
It received a high score of 30 points by a single user and 4 scores in the twenties.
What is most remarkable about Vitalogy's victory is that it lacks real outlier scores, it simply received somewhere between 15 and 20 points from most users.
It received only one score less than 10 points (0 points).
The majority of scores are between 15 and 20 points.
I will go through several ways we can parse the data to crown a favorite on Monday, but it appears that Vitalogy is a worthy champion and regardless of which method we choose it will probably come out on top.

If I could do it again I'd subtract a point each from Ten and VS and add them both to Riot Act.

If you did that it still wouldn't change the ranking of Riot Act on your list.cutuphalfdead wrote:huh?E.H. Ruddock wrote:but that wouldn't ... nvm.cutuphalfdead wrote:If I could do it again I'd subtract a point each from Ten and VS and add them both to Riot Act.

No I very much did, but I later told 4/5 that if he didn't want to include it, I wouldn't be offended.Kevin Davis wrote:So Lament didn't do the 100 point thing, eh?

Or maybe I'd subtract from Ten and Pearl Jam and leave VS at 10. Either way, Riot Act should have 2 more points.

Re: Rank the Albums Again. This Time Weighted! #2: No Code
So let me address the Lament thing.
He gave Vitalogy 100 points and "everything else" 0 points.
This was completely fine with me. I didn't give any restrictions on scoring. I thought about it, but I decided any limit I imposed would be arbitrary, so I'd just let it happen however it happened. I enjoy Lament's posts in multiple sections of this board and have ZERO issue with his choice.
In an attempt to respect the privacy of PMs, I'll just say that Lament didn't want to be at the center of controversy over this, so he asked me to not use his scores. I convinced him to let me use them, and we agreed if I got 50 responses (my original goal) I wouldn't use his scores, so I didn't immediately input his scores. I didn't get to 50, but I never went back and recorded his scores. This was an oversight, not intentional. I realized it about halfway through the reveal whenever we had an album that had no "0" scores.
So there it is. If we include Lament's 100 points for Vitalogy, it will gain about 3 points on average and win by a little more. It would also change the means of the other albums, but not the order.
If somebody wants to, all you have to do to get the averages with Lament is multiple the current mean by 33 and then divide that by 34. I'll do it by Monday if noone else does. I just don't have time right this minute.
So there's my explanation. It was an honest mistake, but I'm sure you guys are wondering when I said the highest score Vitalogy received was 30 points, so here it is.
