I never really hated OU. My hate in college athletics is reserved for Creighton, Texas, Colorado, Miami, etc. There was always a mutual respect there between NU/OU fan bases. Still is I think. I probably root for them a little more now that we are not in the same conference. Same with A&M and Kansas.
Preach! Full disclosure....I am just as excited for tailgate season.Monkey_Driven wrote:I love having season tickets and living in the same town as the team. Makes tailgating and stumbling home much easier.
Only time I ever saw a game there was 1994 but it was a lot of fun.

Clemson. They've done a pretty good job at beating SEC teams the last few years with wins over: Auburn, UGA, LSU and South Carolina. In fairness, they also lost to Auburn, UGA, and South Carolina, but they definitely hold their own against the mighty, infallible, good as the NFL, SEC.verb_to_trust wrote:What non sec team can I root for to annoy and troll my sec fanboi friend? Rooting against an SEC team is like voting for a third party candidate. you are throwing your vote away.

Re: College Football
Who is your team? I am assuming a SEC team?
I don't really hate a lot of the teams in the SEC, I just get sick of ESecPN pimping the hell out of the conference. For college ball, it's nothing but the SEC. For NFL, it's all about the Pats, Packers, Cowboys. For college hoops, it's all about Duke. It's like the same hyped up shit from them every year.
I actually hope Clemson keeps scheduling SEC teams. They are about to do a home / home with Texas A&M, that should be fun. I'd also love to see Clemson take on Auburn and / or UGA on a regular basis, and of course they play the Chickens of South Carolina annually.

Re: College Football
My team is Tennessee, but they are terrible and I don't ever see them returning to the glory days of losing to FLorida and Alabama in big games again. Recruiting is too tough.
I don't watch ESPN since I don't have cable (and I hate them), but I can see how they can make people hate anything.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a pretty minor fuck up in Baylor terms isn't it?
at least no one got murdered this time. I think anyway?
Pro and College Sports in general need a department (like that of the compliance department) that oversees and handles these type of domestic issues. It's an epidemic. Horrible.
Cannot trust coaches to handle this in a responsible manner. They aren't trained to do that and they have an incentive to get the player on the field. It's a university social issue that they do not have a handle on virtually anywhere.
Still, whether it's Jameis Winston or Prince Shembo or Patrick Kane or UVA or Duke Lacrosse, these stories are all tried in the media with a lot of biases and assumptions.

Tennessee just needs the right coach/staff. Once that happens I think they will be back. Sleeping giant for sure. Re: College Football
Its tough to lure a coach into the SEC right now I think. UT has certainly had a problem doing it, even with the infrastructure they have.BigRedLedbetter wrote:Tennessee just needs the right coach/staff. Once that happens I think they will be back. I don't think Butch Jones is a bad coach. Not sure if he is the guy who can get you guys back to the top half of the SEC though.
You need a Gus Malzahn type hire.
