Everything about her is fake. Her over the top delivery is obnoxious as hell and that doesnt even take into account her garbage word play. I'm genuinely offended anytime someone refers to her as a top female mc of all time.

From that Banksy-Run the Jewels interview for The Guardian about the opening of Dismaland...

Banksy: When Kanye came to the UK recently, he played on a dairy farm and declared himself the greatest rock star in the world. Does he have any competition for that?

EL-P: Absolutely not.

Killer Mike: Kanye is amazing and may be the greatest rock star in the world but Rihanna is the new Tupac (in feminist form), and as much as I love rock, ain’t nobody do it like Pac! Ri-Ri rules in my book.

I heard a song on the radio the other day and had to Shazam it because it was cool, turned out to be Rihanna.

I haven't been able to get into Rihanna. I like her voice, but none of her music I've heard has connected with me. Funnily enough, I also have never really been able to get that much into Tupac.

My kids have watched the Dreamworks movie "Home" about 50 times in the past month, and pretty much every song on the soundtrack (by Rihanna, Charlie XCX, etc.) is fantastic.

I think Rihanna is a machine -- I've never listened to her albums but I've loved probably 80% of her singles.

In any case, I think it'd be very difficult for anyone to rationally argue that Rihanna is a bigger "rock star" than Kanye.

I don't think he's saying she's bigger than Kanye. I think he's just expressing a personal fondness for her as one.

Seems like in recent years "rock star" has become a term that corporate leaders use to describe top salespeople, and that women's clothing companies print in glittery letters on form-fitting t-shirts. I have lost sight of what it entails. Suffice it to say both Kanye and Rihanna are great.

One of the things I love about Kanye is that if you were ask me to invent the Greatest Rock Star of the Twenty-First Century back in the 90s when I was probably most into the philosophical idea of that kind of thing, what I would've invented in my mind would've been frighteningly close to what Kanye West is.

I would've wanted someone with the constant tearing down and reinvention of a David Bowie. Someone with the arrogance of Prince paired with the self-doubt of a Kurt Cobain. Someone who critics and peers and legends fawned over without ever becoming someone who just went through the motions and enjoyed a victory lap. Someone whose brilliance and accolades infuriated people who considered themselves defenders of the "old guard." Someone who pissed off as many people as John Lydon, but did it on the level of stardom reserved for the Bonos and Mick Jaggers of the world. Someone who fused both high and low art together in a way that would've made Andy Warhol cum in his pants. A musical alchemist who long after he should've been "tamed" and had the rough edges polished off was somehow more abrasive and controversial than ever. Someone who would do the kind of shit that makes the gestures the precious members of the musical world spend forever patting each other on the back over seem totally meaningless and pathetic. And I would've selfishly wanted him to be from the south side of Chicago.

This is fascinating to me. There's never been a time in my life when I ever considered the idea of my ideal 21st Century Greatest Rock Star. I love how specific you are here. You've really thought about this. And I think that's fucking awesome.

My hope back in the '90's probably would have been for all rap music to be wiped out completely by the year 2000, and for Eddie Vedder to be crowned king of the world.

Blame Greil Marcus' Lipstick Traces. And a raging debate that went on for ages on the old U2 message board in like 1998 when Salman Rushdie's The Ground Beneath Her Feet came out. But this is the kind of shit me and my friends used to talk about. Hell, we still do sometimes.

Listening to Yeezus right now and there's just no way I can rank any other music above this. It's immortal. It's perfect.

I gave it a try and I guess it is safe to say I just don't get it. I did hear some interesting sounds, but not there for me
