this is my second honeymoon you're talking about. I had to spend 1996 to 2004 pretending to love a lot of music that didn't do much for me. World Wide Suicide was like coming home again

No Code. I might have heard Hail Hail once or twice, but all their songs ran together at that point and I didn't know what albums they were on. I remember thinking it was weird but I kept listening to it. I bought the other albums the next week. No Code probably wasn't my favorite until Binaural came out.

I liked Daughter when it came out, but I was 10 years old and pictured the singer as an old, short, heavyset black man.

I thought of him as an old, kinda heavy white guy, for some reason sitting at a piano. I dont know why. He definitely had an old guy voice, but i'm not sure where the old fat guy came from. I think I was flipping through a magazine and mistakenly got the pictures mixed up in my mind.

Remember those millions of people who stopped caring with no code. Some of us hung around anyway :)
Spoiler: show
thats too harsh. There was still plenty of cool stuff to keep me interested. But it was never the same. It still isn't. But S/T still managed to pop out 3 songs that made their way into my top 10 at different points, and the last two albums are the first dance vitalogy where I can listen to and enjoy basically every song, as opposed to a pearl jam album featuring 4 really good songs, 4 pretty good ones, and 4 I had to force myself to pretend to care about.

Yea, except when you pulled up in the driveway, it was a very different home from when you left it. Now it had a fire pole.
Let's be honest. If your home had a fire pole in it you'd use it every chance you got.

Oddly enough, WWS is what got me back into the band. The song is embarrassingly bad of course, but it got me wondering what they were up to. Then I found their live stuff, which I hadn't paid much attention to. And then I gave Riot Act another chance, since I dismissed it after one listen. I was pretty intensely into PJ when ST came out, even though the album kinda sucked.

I discounted the Ten stuff from this as I took this thread to be the first PJ track you heard on release once you had become a fan of the band.

I'd heard Alive and EF and both were fine tracks but I didn't purchase Ten until the 92 VMAs. That performance of Jeremy kicked my arse. That night I found the Singles st in my brothers room. Within a week I had Ten and the singles. Soon after many bootlegs with other rarities but it was Animal that was the next major explosion.

Other times that I've had that feeling were in 96 hearing Who You Are on the car radio. Later upon hearing Yield I shelved it dismissing it as them going Emerson Lake and Palmer on the world. The Wishlist Bside live version of BoJ promptly kicked my arse forcing me to re evaluate.

Even though I kept buying and listening it was the Ten reissue that dragged me back into the fan-swamp. By then there was so much older material available to sink right into (torrent wise) plus I bothered to interwebz them big time. Plus I had spare time to waste.

Same here. I remember hearing Leash and Alone on a boot I bought in '92. I also remember hearing snippets of the band playing what I later learned was animal when on a MTV news clip covering them opening for Neil
Young in Toronto. I can't tell you how pumped I was to hear new music at that point.

Also, I remember buying Sweet Relief for Crazy Mary and playing the shit out of that album in '93.

For sure. Crazy Mary was great. All of those tidbits were devoured. Plus all the improvs like The Park Where I Play The Pope.

Maybe it was the collective experience of Animal at the VMAs but that was a fucking moment. A lot more so than hearing a shitty version of Leash by myself.

I had that same exact boot (Park Where I Play the Pope). I also remember Saying No in Den Haag. I paid $50 for those boots.

I think you and I have a lot in common as for when/how we got into this "Pearl Jam" thing.

I had Park....Pope on these discs.

 I bought so many PJ boots. Those boots sent me broke. And the band knew it and did something about it. :bammer:
