I don't think number of walk off wins means a team is clutch. A team can have a ton of walk off wins simply because their closer sucks.

Right. Would all of those Royals from yesterday get "clutch points" for hitting the meatballs that Tazawa was serving up?

Regardless of what they say about a team, how much fun are walk-offs?

you guys take the fun out of everything. of course clutch isn't an actual skill, but it's easier than saying, "the cubs seem to excel at winning games in high pressure situations sometimes this year."

You brought it up as a predictive stat, that somehow this gives them an edge in the playoffs.

it demonstrates that their young players don't necessarily panic in high pressure situations, and are the playoffs not high pressure situations? i'm not suggesting it gives them some advantage over other potential playoff teams, just that they're proving that they belong.

That they are. Also, Arrieta and Lester in a short series won't be easy if they get that far.

chud, are you not impressed in the least when a rookie comes up with a decisive hit during a crucial at bat?

Listen, I actually agree with what you're saying. But that's not what most people mean when they say a player is clutch.
