I've admittedly taken a few years off from the Boss after burning out on him from like 2002-2012. I mean, I always go back and listen to him several times a year, but it may be time for another deep phase. Maybe I will end up buying that 1980 show.

That's a home-run right there, should have ended the album.

I don't know how others feel, but one of my favorite things Springsteen's done, certainly since his resurgence, was the Seeger Sessions tour. I've been seeing Bruce sporadically since 2003, and I've never seen him as into a show as he was at the Seeger show I saw.

I remember how pleasantly surprising it was to hear that record for the first time. When it first got announced without any accompanying music, everyone expected a whole record of dour, self-serious acoustic stuff. And to get what we got instead was pretty amazing.

It's been a while since I listened to Bruce. Can someone suggest a mix from magic, Seeger, Devils, and rising? I'm getting my comp fixed on Friday so I can listen over the weekend

and Magic is fucking great.

You'll Be Comin' Down
Livin' in the Future
Your Own Worst Enemy
Girls in Their Summer Clothes
Long Walk Home

I like those tracks as much as anything he's done post ToL.

I made this mix for a friend about 7 yrs ago. He liked RATM so I added the Morello To Joad from the Magic highlights ep.

Me too, but ever since Johnny Cash covered it I haven't been able to hear Bruce's version the same way. JC brings an entirely new gravitas to it.

Max owns this track. It's so hard to sit just behind the beat like he does here.

Seeing this page just reminds me how terrible Working on a Dream is. What a garbage album.

How is the Seegar Sessions album?

Also, thanks for the recommendations. With the 4 albums I have, and with Born In the USA being my favorite, I'm thinking The River may be more my style. Doesn't really matter, I'll end up with both The River and Nebraska eventually.

Another fun fact: I met Mighty Max in college. He was on a speaking tour of some kind and we went to see him talk about his life in music, basically.

At the time, he was the bandleader for Conan and had been included in a bunch of sketches, one of which was a parody of "The More You Know" PSA's. In this one, Max looks at the camera and gives his big uplifting message: "Condoms break, Missy. Deal with it."

So after his speech, he sat down at a table to sign things for people. I brought up a poster of the event and asked him to sign it, "Condoms break, Missy. Deal with it."

He gave me the "Are you fucking kidding me, kid?" look.

Being a young asshole, I held firm.

He signed, exactly as I requested.
