It was either the video for Alive or the video for Evenflow. Those two still jumble together in my mind, so no idea. I just remember connecting with the continuation of classic rock BUT THESE DUDES MEAN IT and that one dude is jumping from the rafters he means it so much.
Fun shit, man.

Ok, i'm already a fan... must've been Animal/RITFW from MTV Music Awards. In retrospect an extremely impressive, kinda subversive moment from an ultra-popular band at the time. Couldn't get enough of the MTV replays of the "video" they created for it. Felt like this heretofore mainstream band was unlocking a door for you. The music was harder and HEY LOOK it's Neil Young. Definitely my intro to him, which would be enough in and of itself. His guitar work in that performance still sticks with me.

This is the only thing that I could come up with for this thread either. Definitely animal. Or maybe I heard State of Love and Trust after I was a fan? but that isnt a new song.
Animal.

Joey,
Some digressions into Metallica and Kanye West talk also occurred.Kevin Davis wrote:Basically, the first brand new PJ song you experienced after your fandom had already been established.E.H. Ruddock wrote:I'm really confused about what I'm supposed to answer in this thread.

You can feel free to talk about anything you like, though. Ruddo promised he wouldn't split anything.

My first "new PJ" song after my fandom was established? I didn't become a fan till 2006, around the time S/T came out, so then I think that makes it "Got Some," when PJ played it on Conan. I remember thinking it was really good. I thought it sounded different than most of what I knew from Pearl Jam and pretty much kicked ass. Sadly, we all know how the album turned out.

pretty much all of Riot Act.....didn't have the album, sop i heard it for the first time live. at the Key Arena. Worst seats in the house and to this day my favorite show, and the album is high on my list.

Unless you were at the first Mookie Blaylock shows, this is the wrong answer.

I Am Mine. I was in the midst of becoming a PJ at this time and I remember the radio station DJ premiering it and raving about it and then I don't ever remember hearing it on the radio again.

I was gonna start a new thread called "When Did You First Become a PJ?" but decided against it.LoathedVermin72 wrote:if you a listen to a lot of PJ you become a PJE.H. Ruddock wrote:wut4/5 wrote:I was in the midst of becoming a PJ at this time
I'll just answer here. I didn't become a PJ until around '99, I think, so I'd had enough experience to make the transition a smooth one.
