I got in a debate about Ozzie the other day. Not taking anything away from him. Amazing SS and all but is he a better SS than Andruw Jones was a CF? I think it's a push and the hitting stats are not even close. No disrespect to Ozzie. For his era he was amazing but if he is a Hall of Famer so is Andruw Jones and Omar Vizquel.

The thing I am most looking forward to about the next Franchise Tournament is Kaius posting pictures of cardinals to represent his emotions every day. I've missed that.

Also I am looking forward to kicking 85% of my pitching staff from the last one to the curb.

Probably. But if we end up doing an AL & NL, a possible Giants or Dodgers team could be a threat (along with the obvious Yankees and Cardinals again).

Lots of underlying tension this season between the Cardinals and Royals fans. The Royals being good have led to some pretty passive aggressive behavior by Cards fans.

I am kind of hoping for a Royals/Cards WS. It would be fun to see a couple Midwest teams in the Series. Also, yes, the tension. My God the tension. It would be a blood bath and honestly a hell of a series. Ticket prices would be ridiculous.

Maybe Don Denkinger could throw out the first pitch?

Omar Vizquel should never sniff the Hall of Fame and shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence as Ozzie Smith. They aren't even close defensively, or even offensively. Ozzie was better there too.

People here in Cleveland overrate the guy so much you'd think he was a 6' point guard from Australia.

Agree to disagree on Vizquel. I agree that Ozzie is better with the glove but not by a ton. Omar has like the 8th highest defensive WAR of all time, 11 Gold Gloves (means a lot to the voters) and 2877 hits. Omar has a higher career batting avg, OPS, more hits, etc. If Ozzie gets in on the first ballot and gets 91% of the votes than Omar should get in. Omar should not get in on the first try. But down the road he should. Ozzie is not THAT much better of a player all time.

If Omar was a Cardinal or a Yankee for most of his career this would not even be a conversation. Omar would be getting in on the first try. Where you play should not matter.

Leads me to this point. Someone like Andre Dawson should not have struggled to get in the HoF for so long because they spent half of his career in baseball hell (Montreal) or in a not overly sexy market (Cleveland) and now Tim Raines is having the same problem. Biggio is a first ballot guy if he is a Yankee or Cardinal his whole career. Makes no sense.

They should be arranged by league/division to show those changes too.

I should hope Vizquel had a higher OPS given the disparity in offensive eras they played in. To neutralize that, Smith had a 90 wRC+ and Vizquel had an 83. Smith is in the top 10 for SS WAR all time, between Jeter and Larkin. Vazquez is 32nd, just behind Tony Fernandez despite nearly 50% more plate appearances.

That would be cool. Wish there was a way to slow it down too (other than dissecting the gif with each individual image).

What does it matter how many homegrown players the White Sox have?

It is and it isn't. Something can be said for being respectful and playing hard....sadly not everyone plays the game like that. But it is overused I agree.

And people in different countries/cultures grow up playing different ways and have different ideas of what constitutes "being respectful and playing hard".
