Even with slightly less than average arm strength, most thought Leinart would be a solid NFL QB.
Didn't a lot of people have him pegged as the #1 pick in 2005 before he decided to stay in school?
They sure did. Instead we got the Smith/Rodgers debate that I'm sure you wouldn't mind being mentioned.

If Leinart goes #1, how far does Smith fall? Does a team like the Bears or Bucs or Ravens or Saints that passed on Rodgers snag Smith? If Smith falls to the Packers, do to they take him over Rodgers? And if they do, how far does Rodgers fall? The Skins took Jason Campbell with the pick after Rodgers, but they had Campbell ahead of Rodgers on their draft chart, so Rodgers could easily have fallen well into the second round. Maybe the Bucs or Raiders or Bears end up with him in round two...

Crazy to think about it.

I could play draft what if games all the time...

Rodgers was definitely not an Al Davis QB. He still would have fallen in love with the cannon-armed Andrew Walter. The Bears weren't ready to give up on Sexy Rexy after only two injury plagued seasons despite the selection of Orton. I forget the Bucs' QB situation at the time, but you want to know my guess? The Cleveland Browns, who took Charlie Frye in the 3rd round instead. Now that's crazy to think about...

I like to think about how the Dolphins chose Culpepper over Brees and then had the #2 pick and passed on Rodgers...

Are you mixing up years there? The Dolphins took Ronnie Brown #2 in 2005, and Brees and Culpepper went to new teams in 2006.

Yeah. It was back-to-back years though, right? Either way the pain is so much I've obviously tried to block it out of my mind lol.

The outside linebacker who punched New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith during a locker room dispute missed his college team's 2011 season opener because he injured his hand when punching a man he thought was a woman with whom he had arranged to have sex, Outside the Lines has learned.

How many times do we have to say that this offseason couldn't end sooner for the 49ers? Seahawks fans probably want the delay the regular season a few weeks just to see if NaVorro Bowman suddenly retires.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -– The 49ers announced Wednesday that outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks is being sent back to California and will not participate in Saturday’s exhibition game against the Denver Broncos after a grand jury charged him with misdemeanor sexual battery.

I suppose. Trent Dilfer was their guy at the time. They passed on Rodgers in round one, but I have to imagine if he were still on the board in round three they'd have snagged him. Then again, I'd have to imagine someone would have taken him in round two to try to at least flip him down the road.

I think the Browns would have taken him at #34--or, as became their habit, trade up in the first round to get him.

I love remembering that day and all of the Skins and Ravens fans I was working with at the time thinking it was the funniest thing in the world that the Packers ended up with Rodgers. I still give them shit about that when I cross paths with them.

Also I'd love to one day run into the Broncos fans who in 2006 (while talking about how great it was to finally have a QB who could follow Elway's legacy...Jay Cutler) told me "You'll see how miserable it's gonna be when Favre retires. Aaron Rodgers is gonna be one of the worst QBs in NFL history."

I really don't get any of those comments even back in 2005-6. Favre was already 36 by then, the pick made perfect sense. There's a lot of stupid football fans.

The bigger issue to discuss here is grown men in football jerseys. Especially one with a hideous color scheme.

A color scheme so hideous that their uniforms just finished in third place in UniWatch's rankings of NFL uniforms a few months ago...

There's actually a science to color pairing, and green and gold are considered to be in analogous harmony as they sit next to each other on the color wheel. So I guess it's verb vs. science here. Or more specifically verb vs. Sir Isaac Newton.

I love green / gold combos. I hate Notre Dame so much, but when they bust out this look, it's better than the standard look:
