That record by Halsey is getting a lot of hype.

Good, not their best, but very enjoyable, as always, give it a spin zebra.

Way more toned down than Teen Dream/Bloom. The only time it get's a little bit heavy is on Sparks. Sounds like a mix between their first album and Teen Dream. I think it's really lovely but could see people thinking it's boring, though I would advise not to be turned off immediately if thats the case. It needed a few spins to really sink in. Beyond Love and Days of Candy are so beautiful.

I just listened for the first time yesterday. It's good but after "Teen Dream" and "Bloom" it certainly feels minor -- the songcraft isn't quite as sharp, the arrangements are a little less dynamic, no big surprises sonically -- it feels more like a concentrated dose of their sound than a fully realized application of it. Put me in the "need a few more listens" camp...

Listening to the new Julia Holter record right now. It sounds really pretty and has a great atmosphere. The songwriting does not really grab me, though. Her vocal melodies aren't doing anything for me. Not sure if multiple listens will help. (I'd like to get into it as I really like the style of her music) Right now it feels like style over substance.
The only track I really liked was the first one.

edit: Track 7 and 8 are pretty good.
