A favorite moment was when Mary has lester in her home and he spills the crumbs. The look of confusion, shock and momentary acceptance she has in response was fantastic.

I don't know, I thought that was a bit forced after the super obvious wiping of the feet before entering her home.

Maybe forced isn't the right word, just a bit over the top obvious.

The only weird misstep last night was Vinni's phone call to Nick's wife. Like, wtf? It really didn't seem to affect their relationship at all except for that one conversation.

The accusation just seemed so unbelievable for Nick's character. Maybe if they had one more episode, it could've been explored; was he so intensely preoccupied and paranoid that he might've cheated and not remembered it? Even that's a stretch.cutuphalfdead wrote:yeah that seemed pointlessSimple Torture wrote:The only weird misstep last night was Vinni's phone call to Nick's wife. Like, wtf? The wiping the crumbs was. I'm referring to her response to it.

Well, he did kind of make a pass at Vinni when they left that bar.Simple Torture wrote:The accusation just seemed so unbelievable for Nick's character. I also liked Molina at the diner with the NY times guy
"gotta smoke?"
"its my last one"
couple terse sentences, reporter gets up to leave, and he pulls out another cigarette.

Re: HBO: Show Me a Hero
yeah, i fell in love with her over the course of this thing. which i guess wasn't that hard and was probably done to me on purpose, since her character is perfect in every way and never does anything wrong.@SkitchP wrote:So I googled his wife and she is pretty hot.

I was surprised to see the mayor do what he did at the end. It changes the meaning of the conversation he had with Winona Ryder about how she felt being out of politics after losing the election in the first episode.

Re: HBO: Show Me a Hero
I liked the way their relationship remained ambiguous. Are they ex-lovers, sometimes FWB, or just really close friends? It was tough to tell if that kiss was something that had happened before, or just a joke between them. I'd rather it be foggy than nailed down.numbers wrote:Well, he did kind of make a pass at Vinni when they left that bar.Simple Torture wrote:The accusation just seemed so unbelievable for Nick's character. Re: HBO: Show Me a Hero
That scene was great, I was thinking wait is he really dirty, does he want to confess to someone? I didn't think he was going to kill himself at all until the very end.Simple Torture wrote:I tried to stay "spoiler free" for the series, but I did quickly look up the book the series was based on, as I wanted to read it when it was all over. The subtitle for it is: "A Tale of Murder, Suicide, Race, and Redemption." When I saw that, I knew it was Nick who would off himself. Was surprised there was no "murder," though.
Man, the moment when Nick calls out to his brother in a whisper...you can tell that was one of them moments where he thought, "If he comes up here, I'll ask for help, I'll get out of this," but he just couldn't do it. That extreme close up that came after was like nothing else in the series, either.
Also there was the one murder, the woman gets kicked out of the townhouses because her "man" killed someone. Still seems odd to include in the subtitle.

Its entirely possible that the book has some additional subplots that did include murder.
