Millennials: a person reaching young adulthood around the year 2000; a Generation Yer. There are no precise dates when the generation starts and ends. Researchers and commentators use birth years ranging from the early 1980s to the early 2000s.

I'd still put Gen X until about 82ish. The way kids born in the mid/late 70s and how they grew up is almost exactly how I did.

But from where I sit that looks to me as if you're just confirming my original thoughts on this thing. That's cool, I'm happy to retire for this evening firmly holding the factual and moral high ground.

The smuggest move in all of this was Generation X thinking they could name the following generation "Generation Y."

So, wait, does each generation get to name the following generation?

Given all the praise that Lost in the World was getting a couple of pages back I figured I'd give it a listen (I'm trying to figure out Kanye) - I didn't like it - i think the excessive Autotune put me off right from the begining.

The Baby Boomers were a perfect storm in which you had people who normally would be at very different points in their lives starting families in a short period of time because of the end of World War II. We're far enough removed from that moment in time that there is no real delineation between "generations."

One definitely needs to remove the shackles of autotune-hate if one wants to enjoy Kanye's work. But as has been discussed many times already, the entire album of 808s & Heartbreak is essentially an argument in favor of autotune's potential as an emotional and creative tool, and I think it's a very persuasive argument. I have no problem with autotune anymore.

Still, I find it hard to imagine how someone could not like "Lost in the World". That song is transcendent.
