Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
Mrs. Kaius played the hell out of The Fame, and it was ok; The hits were great, but nothing else really grabbed me. I actually made a trip to the store to get her The Fame Monster when it was still freshly released because i knew she would want it. I think a few days later we had to take a decently long road trip, so she blasted me with it and I was really digging it. That album actually made me a big fan of hers, despite my aversion to anything pop culture at the time. It simultaneously hit my aural sweet spot and broke down walls I had built upon preconceived notions of what/who pop culture/music was supposed to or had to be.Lament wrote:This is absolutely true. It goes downhill pretty hard and fast after that though.Kaius wrote:The Fame Monster is her masterpiece.
I saw her in 2010. It was a lot of fun.
Her next record didn't really do anything for me, either.

Yeah, The Fame was spotty, but with flashes of promise. The singles were great, but it definitely ran too long and got repetitive towards the end of it. The Fame Monster was like a fit, slimmed down, wicked version of The Fame. Easily one of the best pop records ever.Kaius wrote:Mrs. Kaius played the hell out of The Fame, and it was ok; The hits were great, but nothing else really grabbed me. She became a total parody of herself on Born This Way and has never really managed to get that magic (or that attention) back. But man, for a hot minute there I was a HUGE fan.

Wow, the Miley record is even more shit than I imagined. I'm sad the Flaming Lips are involved in the making of this. This is not just bad, this is almost torture.

I will just pretend it does not exist. Rarely does music achieve to make me angry.

"Yeah I smoke pot, yeah I love peace But I don't give a fuck, I ain't no hippy" Should have stopped after hearing that.

If it makes you feel better and more excited about the album, it didn't really grab me.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Thanks...I think?Kaius wrote:Though, I don't think you would like their first two records, because you can be kind of dumb about stuff sometimes.
So, just skip those and listen to Currents. It's a psychedelic pop rock sound with some heavy hip hop/disco influence.I'll check it out.
