But in terms of overall peak it's probably 1995.

1998 when Jack was still playing with them. Yield came out, so they finished a run of 4 really great albums and they were great live.

Did they really have just one peak? I think they really had 2 equally good peaks.

My first instinct was 1995. But by 1998, they were a more well-rounded band, playing confidently out of their minds. Bonus points for killing the same material with both Jack Irons and Matt Cameron (see Give Way and LO2L).

Well Zeb left it open with the 'final peak' comment. There can really only be one peak but I think it's fair to separate live and studio. Lots of bands continue to be great live even after they can no longer write a good song to save their life.
