Our kids have unsalted and we now use it for cooking too.

Well yeah, it's for cooking. If you're just putting it on your toast or baked potato or popcorn you want it salted.

I use unsalted for everything but greasing pans for brownies and other sweets now. I don't miss it, even on toast.
