Let's Talk About the 2006 Tour

Post by vedder316 »

I didn't see one of these, but if there is one, mods feel free to kill it. Seems like this is maybe the last decent tour according to RM.

I saw the 6/23 show in Pittsburgh, out of 12 shows I've seen over 23 years, this one is near the top for me.

I've heard some decent boots from this tour:

San Fran III
Both Gorge shows
Verona
Torino
Honolulu 12/2

Any other recommendations for great boots/shows from this tour?

I was at the first East Rutherford show which was a very solid show, and isn't marred by the power outages of the next evening. I don't really have any favorite shows from this tour. The pacific rim shows are all excellent. The California shows are great as well.

Power outage or not, night 2 is probably better.

Didn't Stone say the San Francisco shows were the best they've ever done?

San Diego is excellent, as is LA 2. I've always really enjoyed the Reading show - short, sharp and powerful. They had a point to prove that day as headliners, and they nailed it.

Notes: Culled from the original FLAC files and mixed using Audacity. Featuring songs from 38 different shows on the 2006 tour from the first show to the last show. Mix created December 2013.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Unlike a lot of other mixes that get made, I repeated tracks quite a bit because I wanted every disc to be an individual listening experience. I have trouble listening to anything longer than 75-90 minutes so I like to have just individual discs, even if it means repeating tracks. In particular, there were so many good versions of "Go", "Leash" and many of the S/T songs that I didn't mind some repeats.

The 2006 tour is one of my favorites, so I put a lot of love into this mix. I hope whoever hasn't heard it enjoys it!

'06 is probably my favorite set of shows. San Fran III, San Diego and Newcastle are among my all time favorite PJ bootlegs. Other favs are: Toronto II, Albany, Grand Rapids, Gorge II, Reading, Marseille, Torino (S/T played straight through), Adelaide II, and Honolulu I.

Does anyone know where I can find the high resolution images that were cut up and used for the 2006 bootleg covers?
I use to have them saved and have searched everywhere online with no luck.

You mean the ones that were used as backgrounds on the band's website in 2006 (though they're not really very high-res)? You can access them via archive.org:

I remember getting really super excited when they started posting those images. I can still taste the disappointment (and utter confusion) when we got a fuckin' avocado instead!

Really enjoying the Santa Barbara acoustic set. Unique show in what is a great looking venue. Low Light > Waiting on a Friend > Hard to Imagine is an excellent run.

Definitely. I remember at the beginning of that set Ed saying something to the effect of, "Let's have a mini-Gorge". That turned out not to happen, so really glad to have caught this acoustic set. The electric set is pretty solid to from what I can remember. Focused.

What I'm amazed by with 2006, is how starkly different the East Coast was from the West. I saw two East Coast shows and they didn't come close to matching the highs PJ hit in California/Oregon/Washington.

This '06 run through Italy is pretty damn good. I have the Cornice dvd, but these shows are all pretty good, start to finish.

Marseille is almost my platonic ideal of a Pearl Jam show. But the first Gorge show remains the best show I've ever seen. I have so many good memories of Pearl Jam in 2006 - this was probably my height of PJ fandom. Such a great tour...

Ahhh, the 2006 tour :heartbeat: :heartbeat: :heartbeat:

My first shows were that year, starting with London Astoria in the April. I have such fond memories of the tour.

My mother died a week before I flew out to Portugal for the two Lisbon shows, so the five shows I saw in September were filled with strong emotions. I'll never forget them. Milan's crowd was the loudest I'd ever been part of.

The band were on fire that year, I don't recall a single dud show in the whole run. And so many standout shows too!

Albany
Grand Rapids
Boston
Las Vegas
San Diego
Both LA shows
Santa Barbara
All 3 San Francisco shows
Both Gorge shows
Dublin
Reading
Arnhem
Both Lisbon shows
Marseille
Paris
All 5 Italy shows
Prague
Berlin
Zagreb
Sydney III
Newcastle
Both Adelaide shows
Perth

Seriously, every show has great moments. The band was tight in '06.
