hey, they were more in it / had a better shot than 95% of the National League@SkitchP wrote:MadTIGERmaN wrote:
all the A's did with Cespedes was win 2 division titles, all theyve done since? is lose
the Tigers still had a shot at the wild card when they had him, after the trade? nose dive to last place!
the Mets get him and take off?
The Tigers had no chance of the Wild Card. None.
Still just amazing how much teams winning %'s have dropped after theyve gotten rid of Cespedes

They were a bad team with no hope. Stop trying to force your narrative. Cespedes has been good enough in NY to not need it.

It's weird to see Cespedes bounce around so much. I kinda hope the Mets keep him.

dude, go look up the A's winning percentage with Cespedes in the lineup, Cespedes on the DL, Cespedes back in the lineup, and now without Cespedes even on the team. Its not a forced narative.@SkitchP wrote:MadTIGERmaN wrote:hey, they were more in it / had a better shot than 95% of the National League@SkitchP wrote:MadTIGERmaN wrote:

Yeah, the Tigers might have been sucking it up since the 11-2 start to the season, but, they were still within 6 games of the wild card before the trade. Ironically, the only 2 teams in the AL farther out than 6 games at the time of the trade? the A's and RedSox, you know, his other two former teams. Sure its all a coincidence, but when the team he gets traded to takes off like a wild fire, its pretty damn amusing. Hell, USA Today did a big article on the very subject earlier in the year.

Re: MLB
It's hard to argue with the idea that Cespedes trade was the worst thing the A's have done in a long time. Trading the big bat in the middle of their line-up took the wind out of their sails. It may have been a morale thing as much as it was the effect on the offense.
And it's hard to argue that trading for Cespedes is the best thing the Mets have done in a long time. They needed a big bat in the middle of the line-up, and he is delivering.
That said, he's not magical.

The Red Sox didnt catch fire last year.
and hes a very good ballplayer. The only point i was making is that with or without cespedes, the tigers werent sniffing the postseason

The Mets have to resign this guy. Colon and his $10M will be off the books - not that it should matter. I listen to NYC sports radio almost every day and its amazing how many Mets fanboys think he should be in be running for NL MVP. I can't imagine the fan uproar if they don't get him back.BigRedLedbetter wrote:It's weird to see Cespedes bounce around so much. I kinda hope the Mets keep him.

Re: MLB
How old is this tradition of stopping the game when people get to a big milestone so everyone on your team can individually give you a hug? I don't really have a problem with stopping the game to acknowledge the achievement, but how long has this endless hugging thing been going on?

I think my favourite division battle right now is the three-way fight for 3rd in the AL East.
