I know I am going to savor this moment. Its not often I come across an album that is this good through and through. Outstanding!

Busy with a a 2nd job. I've been lurking about and posting sparingly. On top of work I've really been working on getting into shape and *edit* working on my guitar chops again (I figured out I Appear Missing the other day!). Between all that and sleeping I just haven't had a desire to sit down and participate on any message board fully. Good lookin' out bro!

I rode my bike a few miles to the store today right? Bought a few beers to take home and when I came out a group of girls that I'm sure were underage shouted at me "I want your body!". I smiled an evil smile as I rode away.

I still haven't heard the new record, but I'm just hanging out here to say that I think Nick Oliveri's songs really drag down Rated R and SftD and I'm glad he got turfed out of the band.

Nick's songs are sometimes pretty poor (Six Shooter), often pretty good (Another Love Song) and sometimes really fantastic (Auto Pilot). Not a bad success rate.

But on balance I'm glad he's no longer with the band. Mikey Shoes fucking kills it on this new record.

Auto Pilot is fucking great; it's a highlight on the album. I even love Quick & to the Pointless. Another Love Song is pretty good, agreed.

Auto Pilot is one of my favorite QOTSA songs from all time. I dont love Nick songs but at the time i really missed them...there was a punk quality that has been long gone since his departure.

Still Schuman is a beast and i prefer him. The current lineup is incredible.

What is Alain Johannes doing in this album? and where the fuck is Lanegan??

Sounds like Alain playing Lead on Fairweather Friends.

Not a fan of this band at all. But. I'm a few songs in and I'm liking it so far. It's extremely accessible almost pop/commercial some of it. I'm liking it.

If I had a tail is kick ass:)

I'm a casual fan (really like their music, but they aren't a favorite), and I honestly can't stop listening to this album. It's so awesome. Smooth Sailing is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard.

edit: This album will probably get me into them a lot more. I'm listening to Era... right now and it's sounding so much better.

These are very interesting takes to me. I'm a huge Queens fan, and I think this album is pretty challenging on first listen--in a very good way. The album is a huge rollercoaster with everything from vintage Queens swagger, to some amazingly raw emotional frailty. I can't see how this could be called "pop/commercial".

I'll need some more time with this album, but I'm certainly enthralled by it. It reminds me a lot of my first time listening to Baroness' Yellow & Green, where there was just so much going on that it was a little tough to digest in one take.
Now, what would Oscar Winner® Michael Caine do?
