10th album rumors and speculation

This thing is close if they're talking titles in public. Damn I'm getting excited and my hopes are high. Too high, no doubt.

It might refer to an upcoming tour with X. I think John Doe said something about some shows this year too.

So could it be read that the tour will be an album tour with X supporting? if so, no wonder we over think things around here.

i guess so...with the album being mixed and some shows later on i would think thats the reason...

Mixing is how all the individual recorded tracks (all the different instruments) are blended together into one. In this phase you can do things like pan and equalize instruments individually to get a specific spacial quality to the recording (among many other types of qualities). Mastering is the compression and equalization done to the final mix down after the mixing phase.

I always explained it to clients and friends as a food analogy. Recording or tracking is like sourcing and preparing the ingredients, mixing is the actual cooking of the dish and the mastering is the food styling/photography presentation (giving the dishes a cohesive presentation whilst highlighting certain aspects of every dish).

At various stages certain elements are determined. ie if you julienne the courgette, then you can't undo that. Same goes for trying to take the egg out of a made cake. Once mixed you can't take the vocals out. But you can take the frequency and bring it out a bit.

It's a loose interpretation but they seemed to get the picture.

With S/T, the tracks sound great (see the EPK) but the mix is very harsh. The mastering just made the bad mix even flatter.

btw this analogy is probably because I was a sound engineer and my wife was involved in food photography. man those were the days.
