I saw Super 8 around the same time i saw that film Chronicle( the one where the kids find an alien something or other n develop super powers and it all ends up very Akira) and I still wish JJ had directed that film instead of S8..

not a popular opinion but Chronicle would have suited him a lot more....S8 could have been a fully realised great idea but immediately becomes a Senór Speilbergo production and if i'm honest, that is its biggest flaw, meaning his handling of it.

Bought Pitch Perfect 2, finally. Watched it last night and loved it just as much the second time as I did the first time. Those goddamn Bellas just get me.

Just got back from seeing Everest -

Beautiful movie, if you see it make sure it's on a giant screen and in 3D.

Nah, it's junk. I'd only watch it if you're interested in the performances. And even then, only Joel Edgerton and Peter Sarsgaard are memorably good.

It's a brutal, minimalist thriller driven by masterful set-pieces, and full of subtle character development delivered visually through moments in actors' performances. And it has a fascinating, anguished, intimate, tragic relationship at its core.

Also, Benicio Del Toro and a grizzled Tommy Lee Jones engage in multiple knife fights. I mean, come the fuck on. It's awesome.
