With originals, even if the performance isn't selling, I have the knowledge that this is your work...... These are YOUR words, YOUR melodies....it is, in a fashion, some small piece of you that is being shared. So even if you end up trying so hard to maximize your performance on a technical level that the feeling of the song gets tempered, that assumption of authenticity is still at the core of my listening experience.

although not necessary, I would suggest that bare-boned be encouraged.

or in the least, the bare-bones should be the heart of the judging matter, leaving the presenter to not be encumbered by the details of a technically-specific=laden perfromance, but rather to be more entwined within the heartstrings of the song itself

i'm not really into the competition aspect of it but i can contribute a few exhibition songs. my band is recording some songs in the near future when schedules allow for it so i should have some stuff from that.

i've got 5 songs from this recording session i could share as an exhibition. still not really interested in competing.

I'm less and less interested as time goes by. I think I'd rather just put my songs up on Release than sit around waiting for a tournament that may or may not happen, and isn't guaranteed to ever reach its conclusion.
