That's fine and true, rhetorically, but the fact is that on the whole he's boring and, well, unimpressive with PJ. So I'm not surprised he's making them raise their eyebrows when he goes and kicks ass with another band. It's kind of like losing your wife to another guy and finding out that he blows her mind in a way you never could.

Did you know that fan club members get first access to tickets before the public? Become a member today and be eligible for pre-sale ticket drawings. Might want to sign up sooner rather than later.... http://bitly.com/PJTenClub
Which of course will get people to sign up everywhere, only to find out a 6 date tour in Japan is being announced.
and then you find out that you've been in the fan club since '96, and the kid who signed up 2 weeks prior to the deadline gets seats to your hometown show, and you don't. thanks lottery!

I hope not.
Oh I don't either, but im just wondering is it an actual factor in anyone band members head up to is it a conversation that's had among them?

i'm sure they listen to their work and qotsa listen to pj/rndm/soundgarden/stone to see what/where folks are at. but i doubt any of them have any intention to make comparisons.

no, that's not what i said, dime. i'm pretty sure comparisons, or "we've got to top that," does not come up for any of the members of pearl jam with regard to their music and what other people are doing currently.

How on Jehovah's green earth could you claim to even guess at knowing this?

I'm really enjoying this exchange.

I'm loving this post. It's as close to agreeing with me as anyone has ever or will ever come to on this board.

I don't think he's agreeing with you either, he's just pointing out that we don't know with any certainty what kind of thought processes the band engage in.
I'm pretty sure the guys have matured past the whole we've got to top that. That's a young person attitude. However, if they are impressed with any of their contemporaries recent output then hopefully they got the fire in the belly. My guess is that Ed would want everyone to deliver their best and be fucking supportive of others.
Let's hope Brendan O'Brien brought his A game to the sessions.
