lightning bolt

:bammer: :bammer:

that's what the song is supposed to sound like b.o.b., if you were listening.

I personally thought Imagine was the best Eddie has sounded in ages. Besides the few times he said something like "Sky-hyyyy"

Man Eddie really brought it in this one. The only wonky part was the second verse...but man he nailed the final one. Its like he was actually trying not to chop up his words into two words

I was expecting a short, hit friendly set but if I did travel to see them I would have disappointed. I thought they sounded fine.
ed - there is no pearl jam without him, and obviously has the most successful solo career/potential
And I absolutely would continue to buy his music and see him perform.

Ed sounds great. He sounds like he has learned how to use his changing voice. Or maybe he's just had a year to rest it.

yeah, that sounded great. Not that i've done an exhaustive study, but that was probably the best version i've heard. The last 90 seconds are pure rock and roll bliss.

 I enjoyed the show more with you guys. It was fun. I'm pretty sure I'll never revisit any of the performances from yesterday especially that pandering encore. But it was a unique event for the band and they did it pretty well.

As for special guests, it's a one off and I'd prefer they tried some new things instead of just the same old. I don't want to hear that Ed and Beyonce version ever again but that doesn't matter to anyone but me.

In hindsight, PJ chat devolving into The Pit for awhile was quite amusing. Even chud and skitch had their knickers in a bunch.

i still don't understand why they delayed 4 or 5 songs with no explanation. Trotting out all the stupid CEOs and bankers at the worst possible time was stupid as well.

Just a really awkward event.

I still wish they ended the telecast with that Beyoncé replay.

I just think MYM needs to be pushed way down in how much they play it. That sounded awful. Its barely a good song as it is, and it sounds horrible live. I can't believe they decided to open with it instead of Small Town.

Edit: I also think since they were on such a big stage they probably should have added Even Flow or Black in there, for people that only know their ten hits and will be like "OH yeah that band". Maybe in place of DTE.

after 25 years and several other hits, i think it's okay to leave even flow and black alone for awhile.

Also Given to Fly is not a good song live like ever. From the double tempo making it feel like a sprint to the fact that Eddie's weakening vocals are beyond exposed, it always sucks to me. I dont love the original song honestly, the one thing that makes it good to me is Eddie's powerful vocals on the higher parts giving the song power. Without that its just annoying.

I did like his passion at the "Fuckers, she still stands" line and with the dedication to Malala I can understand that that one wasnt going to get cut.

But everything from Small Town on was

Also while they do have several other hits, its true, obviously Black and Even Flow are their biggest hits along with Alive and Jeremy. Its not even close between those 4 and anything under it. And considering many people watching/attending this event might not know Pearl Jam that well it makes sense to play some of those songs. It doesn't IMO make sense to make a setlist appealing to die-hard PJ fans because that wasn't what this event was for, and the only people that are tired of it are the people that have gone to 20 PJ shows, and that wasn't the main audience here.

Edit: Then again, they already probably turned the majority of those people off by opening with MYM.
