So they have finally made a movie about Chet. But who here really thinks after seeing this clip, that Ethan Hawke is really playing the trumpet? I mean it looks like he is not even blowing, just moving the horn along the music.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I love Chet, and I love Ethan, but I suspect this is a major casting mistake.

Have you read the James Gavin's Deep in A Dream? I don't know what to think about the man after reading it - how fucked up his kids turned out because of him, the beatings he gave to his women, how he took advantage eveyone he could etc. And still, even tough the book makes you hate the guy, I still find myself going back to his recordings, and his playing is one of the main reasons why I haven't completely given up playing the horn. And I guess the book could you give only half the truth... But I do think it's kind of wrong if they completely ignore his dark side on that film.
