I liked it. I liked that there were no answers or real depth to the story. The movie kind of starts in the middle and ends before the story is finished. A little frustrating but refreshing in a sense.
Although, a weird PSA on Abstinence though maybe. The end scene at the pool was completely pointless.
Just thinking about it gets me a little irritated. It's so undercooked. It's like the the guy thought of a hooky concept but never bothered to think its practicality or themes through to a point of coherence or insight. Argh. Laziness. It has some good ideas but it should have been so much better.
I got the impression that was the point. i dont think it was lazy in as much as it was a decision to let whatever that be, stay lingering and not letting the viewer's imagination go with it.
Not saying it was super effective but i dont believe it was lazy.

I dunno, it seems pretty lazy both on a superficial level (it's plot-hole city and doesn't follow its own internal logic) and a subtextual level (it's themes never congeal) to me. Loose ideas without any discipline. It's style is very deliberate, but that deliberation doesn't seem to have been applied to anything else.

yea if you are going to shit on someone shit on michael bay. Worst.
I think the guy has made one great film, one pretty good film and two decent to fair films. And then some really terrible films. He's not a great director and I have no desire to see this new one.
Me too, actually. It's got some pretty major warts, but I really liked it overall. The tone and the performances made up for a lot of the bizarre flaws.
I also quite enjoyed Lady in the Water, for what it was.
