Besides, there aren't enough laugh-out-loud moments for this to qualify as a horror film

I guess if I have to watch one I want it as over the top and ridiculous as possible
I guess I liked that one more than everyone else who I watched it with did

Rewatched Nacho Cerda's filmography a few days ago. Aftermath is still a motherfucker. So is Genesis. The Abandoned is interesting, though not totally successful. I wish like hell he would make a new movie.
Kind of shocked when I saw Aftermath was on YouTube in full, considering the content.

Just started watching The House of the Devil. Anybody seen it? It has the mother from E.T. in it and Francis Dollarhyde from Manhunter in it, so it must be good yes?

It's in my Netflix queue, almost watched it last night, but based on some discussions here, when for "New Nightmare".Daniel Bryan wrote:Just started watching The House of the Devil. Anybody seen it? Watched it last night. It was ok. I thought it was solid but the end was kind of meh. I did like that Freddy was back to being creepy / scary and not a caricature of himself like all the other sequels.durdencommatyler wrote:tragabigzanda wrote:I'm with LV on this one. The House of the Devil is fantastic, one of the best horror movies in recent years. Expertly crafted - it reaches nearly unbearable levels of tension.darth_vedder wrote:It's in my Netflix queue, almost watched it last night, but based on some discussions here, when for "New Nightmare".Daniel Bryan wrote:Just started watching The House of the Devil. That's kinda what I go for in a horror movie; unbearable tension. I'm gonna have to bump this up on the priority list.LoathedVermin72 wrote:The House of the Devil is fantastic, one of the best horror movies in recent years. Finished the film, it was great. Nothing really happens until the last 15 minutes but it gets incredibly tense in the build up to that final act. Fantastic film, I highly recommend.darth_vedder wrote:That's kinda what I go for in a horror movie; unbearable tension. I made it to the part where he gets really aggressive with the knife play on the woman before I had to close my eyes.

Re: List Your Top 10 Favorite Horror Movies
I watcehd a new nightmare last night.
Not bad and definitely one of the better nightmares. I do think Wes Craven could have taken it further though and really made it stronger, or more "realistic" and drive that home more. Ending up back in dream land kind of took away from the point of it all. I feel like bringing Freddy into our world could make him really mean, really scary, a more realistic character. Rob Zombie should re-do this one.
