Yeah, i liked that. I've found his work to be pretty reasonable for the most part, and reasonable is a pretty big compliment for me; it often results from clear and rigorous thought. And that's something i appreciate about his comments on the "mainstream/neoclassical economic method" or whatever you might call it: those methods can and often do lead to stronger theories because they force one to come to grips with the contradictions and shortcomings of their theory. But good theory in any discipline should do that, and really most good thinking should, so crediting the economic method sometimes strikes me as a little conceited.Bob Loblaw wrote:I think I will.dkfan9 wrote:rafa, you should read this:

I wasn't crazy about that book, but there was one sequence that I absolutely adored, when the guy goes through the manic episode. I feel like I lived through it, it was so well done.durdencommatyler wrote:This was awesome.durdencommatyler wrote:

Let me know how this turns out, Joe. I read Calamity Physics and while I flawed, it showed potential.durdencommatyler wrote:

I haven't read her first book, so I have no basis for comparison. But I'm enjoying this one. It's not great, but it's fun. Cool plot, fun ideas, but a fairly run of the mill detective story/thriller, so far. About 120 pages in.
