The theaters are gonna be so insane when this comes out that I'll probably wind up waiting a few weeks to see it.

I kind of don't mind being in a theatre full of people actually excited for the same reason I am.
So the first week is OK to go..the weeks afterwards are when now casuals turn up and they're the ones you should avoid. Playing with their phones and being annoying generally.

We've developed an awful culture of that in cinemas here the past few years. People actually making and taking calls and not giving a single fuck about anyone else. It's so annoying.

Wow, that sounds extreme. Luckily that level of annoyance is pretty rare where I am. Sometimes people will look at their phones (which is already obnoxious), but never will people actually make or take calls.

In any case, I am not as excited about this other people, so I have a feeling people expressing excitement during the viewing would just aggravate me.

I've never been at a movie where someone took a call.

People do that crap in this area. I first noticed it when I saw ROTS in the theater. A few of the newer / renovated theaters have it so you don't get service inside. the actual theatre.

I'll probably go see this in the theaters for a matinee during that slow week after Christmas and before the New Year.

I'll probably go to a midnight showing on opening day for the spectacle and then again sometime between Christmas and New Years. This place is a ghost town over the Holiday Break.

I don't really download bootlegs of movies, but it's tempting for this one. I don't want to wait, I'm super excited for it, but there's no goddamn way I'm going anywhere near a theater in NYC to see this thing.

I'm with you. I'm excited for this movie, but I'm not excited to go to a theater and watch it. Maybe I'll just wait until I can get it on TV.

Are midnight showings even things anymore? Movies always open at 7 or 8 on the preceding Thursday around here.

Good question. I haven't been to the movies in a long time. Also, I haven't been to such a huge massive movie event since Return of the sith probably.
