The eps available on Amazon/Netflix are also now being shown in HD, for what it's worth.

I paid $100+ a season back in the day for the DVD's. I have the first 7 seasons. Incredible waste of money in hindsight.

For a while, the answer to the trivia question "What was the first TV series to have a complete season released on DVD?" was The X-Files? I remember hearing that many different places, but I'm not sure how true it is.

I got the first season on DVD for Christmas in like...2002? It was the big, bulky, fold-out set, so it must've cost between $70-$90. When I got to college I started to buy the other seasons in the slimmer cases, and I was pulling those down for $25-$30 each. It's fucking unbelievable how expensive this stuff used to be, and now I just stream it all for $10 a month.

Yeah I have thousands of dollars of worthless DVDs that I never watch that just sit on a shelf. At the time I bought them I was thinking this is as good as movies could possible look and I'll never have to buy these again. A few years later TV's doubled in size and DVD looks like crap. I was young and single with disposable income...I would have just wasted it on something else...but still it wasn't the smartest of investments.

I love my DVDs. Even though I am in the process of upgrading them all to Blu-ray.

I have all nine on DVD. Those first few seasons were expensive, but totally worth it. I don't even care. By season 5 I learned to wait until Best Buy had a sale. So I got the last four season for about $30 a pop. 8-)

I do this with music, but for some reason movies don't hold the same import for me.

I've purchased two digital only films in my life. And I watch them a lot, maybe more than any physical disc.

Begs the question...?

I have the Collector's Edition DVD set which I ripped to HD along with a million Twilight Zone discs ages ago, so FOX will not be getting any more money from me; however, it does have Fight the Future and a bonus features disc.

I'd kill a stray dog to get the two X-Files movies on Blu Ray, though.

Do you have, uh, $4 for the second one?

Looks like the original movie is OOP on blu-ray, though: http://www.amazon.com/X-Files-Fight-Fut ... 2650305011

Finally! I've been waiting a long time to illegally download the full X-files collection in HD!

Getting through 159 hours does seem like an intimidating prospect however.

I still have like two seasons to finish, and I started watching years ago. The first four or five seasons FLEW by, then the show really dipped in quality. I need to finish it pronto before the revival starts!
