funny thing is he now looks like the guy I imagined singing when I first heard Pearl Jam all those years ago.

I assume that pic was taken last Halloween and he's dressed up as Joe Cocker.

His youthful glow is long gone. I can't believe he actually used to look like this:

Unthought Known is a great song. Especially live.
I know the argument against it is that it's a song building a bridge to nowhere, so to speak. All buildup, no payoff.
But hearing it live in 2013 (and then again at Global Citizen), the sheer energy it creates negates all that. The buildup is so good that any thoughts of song structure are rendered trivial. By the time "Feel the sky blanket you..." rolls around, I'm jumping up and down.

BOB was right to get McCready to think more in "patterns". I think mccready tends to be uninteresting when he is not focused.

The votes in that old thread say a lot about how the tastes of RM have shifted in the last 5 years (or how everyone with good taste has been driven out). I bet at least 70% of the board today gives this a 4 or a 5.

I gave it a 3 on the old board. I'd give it a 4 now.

2 stars. Listenable, but not more than once or twice a year.

I think Pearl Jam can and will still have another great album, maybe multiple.

I think we should all post then and now pictures of ourselves so we can all quit ripping on an aging Ed. I'd be happy to look/sound like that at 50 (minus the hair plugs of course)

The Backspacer version of Speed of Sound is waay better than the demo, and the lazer is the best part.
