This is interesting.

In my personal experience, Liberals don't threaten this but Conservatives do. Weird.

I think the loudest instance of this was Ed and a handful of other celebs making the comment during the Bush years, so that's probably where the association comes from.

But yeah, the first time I heard it was after Clinton's reelection.

Yeah, Ed and Alec Baldwin were pretty vocal. Just no conservatives are big enough celebrities for people to notice.

Does Bernie Sanders ever actually answer questions directly or offer actionable solutions? Seems like he just speaks in vague platitudes and applause-generating generalities.

I'm pretty sure that whatever the question, the correct answer is always, "WALL STREET IS EVIL!!!!"

He definitely does and Bill Maher really did a great job of getting him to speak in actualities. Should check out the interview.

I did. I still found it frustrating. Even Maher seemed noticeably frustrated. Basically a lot of generic "The American people are sick and tired of the billionaire class!" as usual.

I think one issue with liberals like Bernie is that they've been preaching solely to the choir for so long, that they assume their audience already knows and understands their ideology. And while Bernie is certainly regarded as somewhat of a hero among anti-establishment liberals, I think we all know that there are better candidates for this message. I hope Elizabeth Warren is kicking herself right now.

Probably not. I think Sen. Warren is going to wait it out, and if the next president is a Republican, then she'll run in 4/8 years on the same sort of anti-Republican backlash that almost got Kerry elected and did get Obama elected, just like the next president (probably Republican) will ride an anti-Obama(Democrat) wave of backlash into office etc etc etc

I'm also getting tired of Bernie's vague schtick. Jill Stein 2016!

You really think a republican is going to win the white house?

Also, looks like Biden may be jumping in.

That article just says that he's going to announce his decision soon. I don't think that he's actually going to run.

In the end, I expect Biden to be a party loyalist. And the best thing for the party is to let Hills destroy Dippy McGrumps while the GOP cannibalizes itself.

This.

There was an article on 538 a few months back speculating that Biden dipping his toes in the water was basically just an insurance policy in case clinton's email scandal or something else blew way out of proportion and she was seen as unelectable.

I liked the reading of this being a "victory lap" for Biden. People get to say nice things about him and tell him that they want him to be President, without his having to actually get down in the mud and run for President. He's polishing his image and his legacy. If he ran, he would tarnish that.

If the election was being held in 3 months instead of 13, I think Clinton would win (narrowly against some candidates, by a wide margin over another). A lot can happen in a year, and since no Republican candidate has risen from the crop yet, it's sort've hard to speculate.

It's like every four/eight years everyone forgets what the primaries are like.
