I was able to snag a copy of Neil Young's "Storytone" off of Amazon for $18 (remember when this shit retailed at $70?). I don't think I'd ever given it a proper listen before, but I really like most of these solo songs. Very simple songwriting, but they set a sweet, tender mood and really feature my favorite type of Neil vocals. The price has dropped pretty low everywhere (~$20), so it's worth your time if you're wondering!

I thought "Storytone" was a much better album than it got credit for. I can't help but hear some slight EV influence in the solo take of "Tumbleweed."

Yesterday I got I See a Darkness by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. I'd never listened to it before. Don't own it in any other formats. And I spun that twice yesterday and once today. What a gorgeous album.

It's nice to have a first time vinyl experience.

Yesterday I got I See a Darkness by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. I'd never listened to it before. Don't own it in any other formats. And I spun that twice yesterday and once today. What a gorgeous album.

It's nice to have a first time vinyl experience.

I read an interesting psychology article a few years ago about new music formats, and how it's just a gateway for people to repurchase albums they already own.

Of course it went into the "need" to make these purchases as well, as technology of home, car, and now mobile technologies expand. But the interesting part was the mental side of it.
