Glad you dig. Daniel Romano's last two records are absolute perfection and a case study in all that was good coming out of Nashville '65-'70. And he's virtually unknown.

went and saw merle haggard and kris kristofferson on monday. they played their set together, alternating every other couple songs or so. merle's band would lightly back kristofferson when he was singing, but for the most part his songs got to shine through on their own. merle's 'mama tried' was probably the highlight of the night. these guys are in their late 70s, but they're still special performers.

sturgill simpson opened and i came away very impressed. he was the perfect compliment to the old guys. worth checking out if you get a chance.

both haggard and kristofferson have played bonnaroo (separately), and kristofferson's set is one of my favorites i've ever seen. the heat index was in the 100s, he was up there solo, sweating through his shirt by the second song, he had to tune his guitar every other song because of the heat/humidity, and he powered through a 90 minute set playing 25 some odd songs. it was wonderful.

ah, copperplate, a font for the truly modern man.
