I used to post on an art/design board, but it's mostly dead now. Forums are a relic.

I hope you like it. I was looking forward to it, but others around here have not been impressed.
I saw 99 Homes tonight. Michael Shannon, Andrew Garfield, Ramin Bahrani. This should have been good. It wasn't. Too preachy and simplistic. It's not terrible, but...

Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Chris Rock is going to host next year's Academy Awards, which means I will at least watch the opening monologue.

There's a whole series of old horror movies produced by Val Lewton that is just tops. I Walked with a Zombie was probably my favorite. The Cat People movies were both great, but I remember preferring the first one.

Yeah I've seen a few of 'em. I enjoyed IWWAZ and CP but didn't love them. This one was a different beast. Totally different vibe, and I thought it was quite deep and insightful. Bit of a mindfuck.

$1.50 theater double feature of inside out and southpaw

i liked the idea of inside out, but something about this movie just didn't work for me and i haven't pinpointed it exactly yet...for now it's a middle of the pack pixar effort for me

southpaw was solid - great performances by two of my favorite actors
And they say that a hero could save us
I'm not gonna stand here and wait
