If I'm remembering it correctly:
Down - Threefold Live
Sigur Ros - Von
Kurt Vile - B'Lieve I'm Going (Deep) Down
Sharon Van Etten - Are We There
Alexi Murdoch - Towards the Sun
I'm stuck in one of those ruts where I'm just listening to things as they come in and haven't listened to any previously owned records in a while. I've still got like 5-7 LPs that I haven't spun since I bought them, and I've got 2-3 coming this week.

Gary Clark Jr - Story of Sonny Boy Slim
Judas Priest - Hero, Hero
Radiohead - Best of
Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour (mono)
Hemming - Hemming
These are my most recent purchases and played catch up the past two nights. Hemming is a solo female artist who was the opening act when I saw Chris Cornell last month. Reminds me of early Jewel.

Shopped around some vinyl on Amazon last friday while drunk and ordered a record I apparently already own, which I discovered last night.
Idiot.
Sold it at work for what I paid, at least.

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
I was able to snag a copy of Neil Young's "Storytone" off of Amazon for $18 (remember when this shit retailed at $70?). I don't think I'd ever given it a proper listen before, but I really like most of these solo songs. Very simple songwriting, but they set a sweet, tender mood and really feature my favorite type of Neil vocals. The price has dropped pretty low everywhere (~$20), so it's worth your time if you're wondering!

I thought "Storytone" was a much better album than it got credit for. I can't help but hear some slight EV influence in the solo take of "Tumbleweed."

Re: The Vinyl Thread: Still Listen On Wax, Don't Use The CD
So much of my record collection is made up of albums I own in other formats.
Yesterday I got I See a Darkness by Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. I'd never listened to it before. Don't own it in any other formats. And I spun that twice yesterday and once today. What a gorgeous album.
It's nice to have a first time vinyl experience.

I read an interesting psychology article a few years ago about new music formats, and how it's just a gateway for people to repurchase albums they already own.
Of course it went into the "need" to make these purchases as well, as technology of home, car, and now mobile technologies expand. But the interesting part was the mental side of it.

Was that article written in 1985 about the record companies scamming us into buying all of our albums again on CD?bodysnatcher wrote:Nice. I love that feeling too.durdencommatyler wrote:So much of my record collection is made up of albums I own in other formats.

I'd like to read that. I'm gonna see if I can find it (or one like it) on the ol' Google machine.
Certainly, it's something I can relate to. Every time I'm in a record store I find myself looking for shit I already own on CD first. It's weird.

HEY GUYS THEY RE-RELEASED ALL 3 BACK TO THE FUTURE SOUNDTRACKS IN A DELUXE BOX SET WITH ORIGINAL ARTWORK FOR OVER $100!
The recent trend of all these repackaged vinyl sets is getting super annoying, and reminds me of all the dumb DVD box sets that cluttered Circuit City shelves for years.
