Definitely a weird coincidence, but the idea of Luke turning to the dark side has been around for a while--the Dark Empire comics came out in the early '90s, I think? I'm sure Abrams had heard of that storyline before.dimejinky99 wrote:This is interesting

Apparently Abrams is fond of big twists but I can't see him going here really.
Unless Luke has gone into seclusion after going to the dark side, having set up the Knights of ren initially and then regretting it and gone into hiding?
Anyone's guess really

I think I'm sticking with my theory that either Kylo is vaders grandson. Via Han &leia or perhaps one of Lukes students gone to the dark side?
An order of dark side Jedi knights doesn't just pop up. They learned from someone somewhere.

Why do all the important events in the galaxy seem to center around this one family?

That's a good point to keep in mind. Also, strengthened by the trailer.dimejinky99 wrote:I think I'm sticking with my theory that either Kylo is vaders grandson. Via Han &leia or perhaps one of Lukes students gone to the dark side?

I just finished the 4-issue "Shattered Empire" comic, and here's some spoilers/speculation on how it might connect to the new film:

No one is talking about it, but the real answer to all this mystery has something to do with C-3PO's red arm.
