Not begrudging their growth. I'm a big fan of Ballast Point but Is this a good thing for a craft brewery to be beholden to shareholders and things like...growth? Not that growth is bad, but... you know shareholder pressured growth.

My guess is they want to be the next Sierra Nevada and I say vaya con dios.... but I'm a little concerned it's IPO today and INBEV/MillerCoors/Ballast Point tomorrow.

In other news it's Celebration Season.

Celebration is being bottled now, it will be out in a week or so. I'm sure it will be slightly different this year

Doug you were saying the green flash soul style was really good right?

I picked up Wicked Weed Pernicious and Old Rasputin for my weekend enjoyment.

Any fresh hop ale fans should check this one out if you can find it.

I like this one even better than SN or Founders Harvest.

went to a new local beer store today at lunch and picked up:

Lagunitas Imperial Pils
Westbrook Dark Helmet
Bell's Kalamazoo Stout
and against my better judgement, Stone 24 Carrot Gold

Also, apparently the popular thing with some of the local southern breweries is a sweet potato ale. Anyone try any of these?

This is one of the best beers in the world. It becomes available only once a year, and it has a very limited release. Because of some planning and early contacts with liquor store owners/managers, I've managed to buy 5 bottles today. Last year I was only able to get one. I'm so happy right now. Thank you beer gods! http://surlybrewing.com/beer/darkness-2015-2/

And now, here are my five glorious bottles:

it's good to be sure, but I wouldn't go that far. I prefer the barrel-aged to the regular.

Cool map, but its hardly fair to put Rogue in the Cali mix just because they have one small public house in San Fran. Rogue is straight up Oregon....

I thought the exact same thing, especially since I've had a few at that Rogue establishment. I'd replace Rogue with Rare Barrel in Berkeley.

Surly's really stepped up its game. I'm a big fan. Abrasive. Todd the Axe Man. Wet. Darkness. All really good stuff.
