I like the first passage you quoted. Those lyrics are very "Yoshimi"-esque -- they have that same weird mix of existentialism and childlike emotion. I won't say they read like poetry on the page but no doubt they're genuine -- and observant, in their own weird way.

Not sure why but the second passage gives me a mental image of Glenn Danzig onstage at the Sands singing crooner ballads. Not a path I care to follow.
