Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

First gig was with my Mum as an 8-year-old - John Farnham in 1990 on the 'Chain Reaction' tour, supported by Southern Sons (will probably only mean something to Aussies). I only got to go because my Dad had to go interstate for work at the last minute. Loved every second of it :)

First gig w/out parents was +Live+ in 1997 on their Secret Samadhi tour - still to this day one of the best gigs I've ever seen. Three encores, lots of requests, it was apparently their longest show to that point.

First show was Dire Straits in 86 with my brother and two friends. My parents liked DS but didn't care for the hype and went out for dinner instead picking us up afterwards.

Then I saw U2 in 89 with my father. That was with BB King.

First show without any family was Bon Jovi in 89.

Brad and Spen, you guys crack me up. The guy from SSons was on that Bondi Ink show.

I saw sponge at the tradewinds in NJ in 1995, so I don't know if that counts. A large bar that got real acts, but still a small venue.

My first real serious arena show was REM on the Monster tour (the Meadowlands) later that year.

I don't remember much about sponge, but the REM show was fantastic.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, the back row of the Beacon Theater in NYC in 2002. I only knew Red Right Hand, and don't remember much, but I had a great time. I remember thinking Oh My Lord was fucking awesome and that I loved all the curses in Stagger Lee.

Yes.

So I'll mention what I think was my second real concert: Public Enemy, 1991, Burlington VT

The thought of PE trying to kill an evening in Burlington is pretty funny.
It is and it was then too. Chuck had a few comments about it. Great show in a really bizarre location for them.

My second show was the same year and venue as my first (1996, Thebarton Theatre) and was a more credible line-up of Australian 90s rock: Tumbleweed supported by Magic Dirt, The Fauves and Adelaide indie rock stalwarts Rash.

We supported The Fauves in 98 or thereabouts.

I think I remember my aunt dragging me to a Conway Twitty concert in the park. Then years later I saw BB King at some kind of fair, only me and about 10 other people noticed he was playing.

I didn't buy a ticket to my own show until Pearl Jam I guess.

As I said in the previous thread:
I still can't believe this lineup, both for its overall cromulence and the placement of Radiohead THIRD on the bill while they were touring behind OK Computer. The show took place in a town of about 2,000 a half-hour southeast of Portland.

Those were strange times. And the first time I ever heard "Paranoid Android" was live, at sunset. Good times.
Somehow Radiohead got booked to play on this festival before OK Computer came out, and by the time the show happened, they were the talk of the festival. And yet somehow they also didn't get bumped up to headliner, and got 40 minutes. I had to sit through an hour of freaking Candlebox after my brain exploded watching Radiohead. And while I don't remember much, I do remember them opening with "Fake Plastic Trees" and closing with "Just", along with playing "Paranoid Android".

I quite enjoyed The Offspring, but I was 16. Cake was boring, I got to hear Matchbox 20 on their first big tour and hated every second of it, and discovered Pond, who were an excellent band. I miss them. I met them in the autograph tent and they drew all over my copy of their album. Great guys. They complimented me on my Sonic Youth shirt.

That was a fun day.

Schandmaul or Subway To Sally (german Gothic/Folk rock bands) when I was around 14. I forgot which one was first. At the time I thought both were great, nowadays I would have some stupid nostalgic fun at best.
My first bigger concert were the Arctic Monkeys at the Hurricane Festival in 2006. I wasn't and still am not a big fan of them but they were the first band playing. It was okay. Muse were supposed to play as headliner on the last day but they were cancelled due to a storm that transformed the whole camping ground into a lake. :gomez:
The only "stadium-sized" concert I saw outside of a festival was Pearl Jam at the Wuhlheide in Berlin in 2010. They were pretty good, the experience overall was kind of underwhelming though. Most of their set was played in daylight which I hated. Ruins the atmosphere. They really need to stop playing that venue and go back to venues that aren't outside.
Most of my adult concert experiences where in smaller clubs in Hamburg.
