As I said in the previous thread:
Somehow Radiohead got booked to play on this festival before OK Computer came out, and by the time the show happened, they were the talk of the festival. And yet somehow they also didn't get bumped up to headliner, and got 40 minutes. I had to sit through an hour of freaking Candlebox after my brain exploded watching Radiohead. And while I don't remember much, I do remember them opening with "Fake Plastic Trees" and closing with "Just", along with playing "Paranoid Android".I still can't believe this lineup, both for its overall cromulence and the placement of Radiohead THIRD on the bill while they were touring behind OK Computer. The show took place in a town of about 2,000 a half-hour southeast of Portland.
Those were strange times. And the first time I ever heard "Paranoid Android" was live, at sunset. Good times.
I quite enjoyed The Offspring, but I was 16. Cake was boring, I got to hear Matchbox 20 on their first big tour and hated every second of it, and discovered Pond, who were an excellent band. I miss them. I met them in the autograph tent and they drew all over my copy of their album. Great guys. They complimented me on my Sonic Youth shirt.
That was a fun day.
