I tried watching the movie Little Monsters the other night, but I turned it off as soon as Howie Mandel's character showed up. I believe that's the first time I've ever stopped watching a movie due to a character introduction. I imagine I felt what most people feel when they watch Jar-Jar.

That is pretty generous calling it that, dime. Third worst grossing "film" ever. Why do I want to watch two hours of Efron and his friends bro-ing it out and throwing a party?

Really? Didn't know that. Just a pal recommended it cos it's quite similar to the party scene we were involved in for a long time. We both agreed it's too much the happy ending. If that had been a European film it would have been a lot more truthful. Grim even.
Still I enjoyed it. Only knew the effron(tery) guy towards the end.

He played the guy named Cole, apparently.

Funny thing. I'm never able to remember characters names in films while I'm watching them.
Maybe I should use that as a guide to whether the film is good or not.

(Still doesn't know any of the new characters names in Star Wars-force awakens. And I loves Star Wars)

Partly though, dime, to be fair, all of the new characters in TFA have absurd names.

That's a fair point.

Will they become household names and by-words like yoda and Vader though?

We still remember jar jars name. And Qui Gons

Oh yeah, they will be household eventually. But most of us will need to see the movie and have that context before we can remember those names.

tragabigzanda wrote:Watched Inside Out last night. Surprisingly abstract for a kid's movie; the part where Joy and Sadness become these Picasso-pointelist representations of themselves was pretty far out.

I loved the movie's concept of how memories and feelings are stored inside of a person. But I also felt like the plot was a little obtuse, and I wish we saw more of Riley, rather than such a strong focus on the characters inside of her.

I think it would benefit from multiple viewings, or maybe a directors cut. I doubt I will ever devote another 2 hours to it though.
