I don't think he's using herein anymore. But he is a sloppy drunk for sure. I went to his happy in glashsses show in new York in 2008. It was pretty bad. People walked out midway

I did see an awesome VR show back in Minneapolis. He wasn't fucked up. IT was better than the GnR show I saw around the same time. For what that is worth.

I saw that show too and thought he was terrible. I saw STP on their reunion tour and he was great.

Which show? Quest or Xcel? The Quest show was top shelf. Scott was good at the X, too, but the volume was out of control. Hoobastank sounded better, but they were a poor choice to set the tone.

I didn't see the above VR show so I don't know but it was around that tour with Hoobastank opening (Anaheim show) that I thought he started to lose it a little bit. I saw VR a handful of times on the Contraband tour and then the Libertad tour with AIC opening and he was still out of his mind good. He was still good when I saw him with STP a couple years later but he had clearly lost something.
Most of us can agree I think that he went from one of the greatest live frontmen of all time to about as low as it gets.

I was referring to the Xcel. It was one of the worst shows I've ever seen. We skipped Hoobastank because why would anyone intentionally do that to themselves?

Tonight I'm seeing STP with Chester at the Myth Nightclub in Maplewood (St. Paul) Minnesota. I really didn't have much interest in going but my concert buddy got us tix anyways. I just hope it is a fun time, and the band rocks out. This song would be fun.

The show was heavy on the "rock!" for sure. I think Down was the highlight for me, followed by Lounge Fly. Chester plays the role of Scott about as well as anyone possibly could. He can sing every part, his mannerisms and attitude on stage are all Scott. It's the same moves, the same slinking and spinning and slithering that Scott always did, but Chester owns it too. Frankly, it was kind of strange because he was SO MUCH like Scott. It was a fun show to see, but it really did feel like seeing the best STP cover band in the world. Also, Robert is hilarious to watch on stage.

It's not Scott, tho. And it's not STP. I really begrudge them using that moniker. Last time the real STP came through here it was at that venue. I remember walking out after the show and telling my friend, "We'll never see STP again." You could just tell it was over. I live 5 minutes from the venue, but I couldn't be bothered. It's essentially karaoke. Chester has been with them for 2 years now and they still only play one of his songs.

I mostly agree with all that, but I still enjoyed the show. The band is still enjoyable to watch. The DeLeo bros are still cool. I saw STP with Scott at Roy Wilkins, (I think that's the venue you are remembering as being played at the Myth. It was scheduled for there but was moved to Roy Wilkins.) and that was a great show. But I also remember thinking the same about it being their last show together. I just never assumed the band would continue to tour without Scott.

No, it was at the Myth. They did play the Roy at least twice before that show, and they were both tremendous shows. The Myth show was just weird. They sounded good, but Scott was super chatty, and his stories were just dumb. All that said, I have only ever seen Scott in great form. Never been to one of his nightmare shows. PhatJ, you going to Cornell next week?

Ps, here is the Myth set from 2012: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/stone-tem ... dbbf9.html

Nice. I think I was completely unaware that Myth show happened.
I am not going to Cornell. I haven't even picked up his new solo record yet (is it good?). Next Saturday I'm going to see Aaron Freeman (Gene Ween from the band Ween).
