Several racist incidents on campus with absolutely no response from our administration. The students became fed up. One student is on a hunger strike until the president of the University System resigns or is fired.

The administration is hiding behind PR statements and spokespersons rather than addressing the issues. The players have clearly been impacted by racist acts and are united with the protestor.

Im going to play devils advocate here. What exactly do they expect adm to do about drunk rednecks saying the N word? Also read they were upset the university didnt issue a statement on Ferguson...because...something that happened two hours away...?

Also, if the football team didnt suck this year the cynical side of me says there would be no strike.

The system president is definitely a scapegoat. I don't think anyone involved really thinks his termination will solve racism or anything. I think they just want leadership that does something, rather than speak through empty statements.

The state of Missouri has a really complicated and deep seated history of racism. Mizzou is the flagship university of the state, so I think that history, Ferguson, other events I won't dive into, and recent incidents have just boiled over.

We will never know if the team would have striked if they were in the playoff hunt. The important thing is they are and now the whole country is paying attention to the issues on campus.

One more note: I don't necessarily agree with all the tactics the students are using but I am 100 percent on board with their desire to make the campus more inclusive and accepting. These issues are not unique to Mizzou but they have the opportunity to improve the lives of Mizzou students, and perhaps inspire other campuses to do the same.

Yeah, the more I read about this, the more I think Wolfe is being scapegoated, but at the same time isn't helping out his cause by doing more talking than listening. Also, reading their demands, number V is calling for a quota, which is going to run into constitutional problems at a public university.

A leader who didn't do his job after he multiple opportunities to do so resigned after being called out on it. It goes to show you the power of athletes though. They really brought the national media's attention to the issue.

So according to this, at 1:37 PM on November 8, Wolfe issues a statement saying he won't resign...and then at 10:15 AM on November 9 he announces his resignation. Not buying it, if he were a coach his face would be in the You're Fired thread right now.

Not at the moment, but it could be a step in the right direction.

And now our University Chancellor is "transitioning to a new role". Jesus, what a week. This is going to impact my family, friends, and coworkers for months.

When I was seeing Clemson and Ohio State both projected in the playoff, it made me think that would be quite the nostalgic game for obvious reasons.
