I just type whatever song, album or artist I want to hear, and it plays like magic. I'm never going back again.
Except if I want to hear Tool. I have to go to the youtubes for those assholes.

I was extremely disappointed to find none of Joanna Newsome's stuff on there.BurtReynolds wrote:I just type whatever song, album or artist I want to hear, and it plays like magic. I'm never going back again.

Yeah, team Spotify.
I didn't think I'd like it either, verm. But here we are. It's a new world and I goddamn love Spotify.

I could never get onboard with listening to music primarily via streaming but I can see the utility in something like Spotify as a way to give something a listen where I'm unsure whether I want to pick up the CD or not.

Re: Top Ten Albums of 2015
I find the overall quality of spotify streams a tad suspect at times but combined with my Sonos system it really does give me an amazing access to a huge variety of music wherever I happen to be in my house. I know my 12 year old daughter just loves it too, and anything that increases her interest and participation in music is great by me.
We've taken to playing this game in the car too where I hook my phone up to the Bluetooth on my car and use Spotify on my phone to all pick a song each in turns. It's a great way to have fun with music and stay involved with the kids. I had to chuckle at my son (15) playing Linkin Park last night!

I liked Big Dark Love by Murder by Death. I Shot An Arrow is a cool tune.

Re: Top Ten Albums of 2015
I've been going over the list of 2015 releases I've checked out this year and have to say that I feel it's been a fantastic year for new tunes generally. Some really strong albums out there. I'll be back with a more detailed review of what I think was worthwhile in a bit. (I know - how exciting, amirite?!)

Re: Top Ten Albums of 2015
I think this is everything I've bought this year. Pretty busy year for me -- most of this stuff I really liked. Haven't started really sorting through it in terms of "rankings," but in any case...
Courtney Barnett -- Sometimes I Sit...
Kendrick Lamar -- To Pimp a Butterfly
Richard Thompson -- Still
Laura Marling -- Short Movie
Vijay Iyer Trio -- Break Stuff
Bob Dylan -- Shadows in the Night
The Decemberists -- What a Terrible World...
The Decemberists -- Florasongs
Beach House -- Depression Cherry
Beach House -- Thank Your Lucky Stars
Sleater-Kinney -- No Cities to Love
Hop Along -- Painted Shut
Wilco -- Star Wars
Sufjan Stevens -- Carrie and Lowell
Calexico -- Edge of the Sun
The Mynabirds -- Lovers Know
Kurt Vile -- B'lieve I'm Goin' Down
Paul Weller -- Saturn's Pattern

Re: Top Ten Albums of 2015
Just checked out the new album Elaenia from Floating Points. Wow.
One review states: "Floating Points debut...pitches him to a broader audience: as a club visionary whose music has now expanded to encompass rich jazz, ambient and classical influences."
Here's Silhouette with it's trippy vid, the full version includes parts I - III and is magnificent.
