Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Fun fact: Aziz graduated from the same residential nerd high school my stepson is currently attending.

What do you mean by "residential"? Like a boarding school? Does your nerd kid go to a boarding school with vaguely-funny immigrant comedians?

It is the Governor's school for Science and Math. Yes, junior and senior years are residential and essentially college, as he'll come out of there with about 32 college credit hours. And apparently Ansari went there with hopes of becoming an engineer someday. True story, the current president doesn't like him, because they've tried to get him every year to speak at graduation but the president always shoots it down.

Sci-fi film Snowpiercer being adapted as TV series

Tomorrow Studios announced on Wednesday that it has optioned the rights to adapt South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi movie as a television series.

Josh Friedman (War of the Worlds, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) is attached to write, with Bong, Dooho Choi, Marty Adelstein, and Becky Clements executive producing.

Based on the French graphic novel Le Transperceneige and released in 2014 in the U.S., Snowpiercer is set in a new ice age in which the only apparent life survives aboard a train that perpetually circumnavigates the globe.

The film marked Bong’s English-language debut and featured an international cast including Chris Evans, Tilda Swinton, and Song Kang-ho. Although it was not a box office hit in the U.S., it received excellent reviews, performed well on VOD, and grossed $82 million overseas.

“I’m a huge fan of director Bong’s films, especially Snowpiercer,” Friedman said in the announcement. “It’s great the way the best sci-fi is great — thoughtful, political, funny, scary, and sly. And it’s on a train. A big f—ing train. What more could you want?”

I'm assuming that to make a tv show they will completely abandon what happened on the movie so they can have a continuing storyline for a tv show. This feels like a bad idea.

Terrible in a good way. Completely ridiculous and something my 15 year old self would have absolutely loved. I think i say "Terrible" in that for some reason I feel shame for loving it.

You shouldn't feel shame; I don't there's anything terrible about it. There's a lot of subtly interesting character stuff in that show. Forte's character kind of winds up being a terrible person in S1, which really calls into question who the audience is rooting for and why.

Season 2 has been pretty good so far. I suggest checking it out. Carol cracks me up.
