It's just some executive's "answer" to piracy. The more people steal their music (and to a lesser extend download legally) the more they have to come up with a reason for someone to buy a physical copy. They think puzzles and statues and t-shirts and folded posters will do the trick.

Not sure how much of it is worthwhile, but I'm going to get it.
I really just wanted a CD, but the CD release is only 13 songs. No way I'm buying the Super Deluxe for Kurt's cassette castoffs. I ended up just getting the digital version. I guess I don't really need anything physical.
What about the 31 track CD release?

eg. https://www.jbhifi.com.au/music/browse/ ... on/833661/

Maybe there was some weirdness where that wasn't being directly released in the US, now I think about it.

You could probably order it, though.
Meh. I've already got a pre-order in at Amazon and I've come to grips w/ not having any physical copy of this album.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Just grabbed the 10/24/89 and 7/3/92 shows from the ZOMB tracker, as well as the 5/13/90 show, which I'd read from several sources to be among the band's all-time finest. Upon listening I was delighted to learn that this was the same show that I'd had in partial form for years growing up, on a bootleg called "Mindblower" (some show from '92 was on the first half of the disc). This baby will be getting a lot of play over the next few days...

For 5/13/90, make sure you get the Mike Zeigler ANA1 transfer with these fingerprints...it is not on Zomb:

Thanks -- is it easily found elsewhere? I'm not a particularly active torrenter so I don't really know where to go, Zomb and Lossless Legs are the only two sites I've really used, and even then only in moderation.

I'd also be interested in this answer.

Montage of Heck, Kurt Cobain's posthumous solo album, is the kind of thing that might have mortified the Nirvana frontman in his lifetime.

Review: Kurt Cobain's posthumous "solo album" threatens to make the Nirvana frontman boring

It’s time to stop buying Nirvana records.

I'm as committed a Nirvana fan as they come, I don't think any band has been personally more important to me, and even I'm kind of repelled by the album.

The whole Montage of Heck project, film and soundtrack, have really rubbed me up the wrong way and I just don't want anything to do with it. I haven't seen it but I know enough to be certain I have no interest in the film and I doubt I'll buy the CD at this point either.

The only release after Kurt's death that I think was an unqualified slam-dunk was the In Utero reissue, the rest I could've done without.

Not a fan of the unplugged album?

I can't argue there, Unplugged is as essential as any of their studio records.

Live! Tonight! Sold Out! is also great, though work on that had already begun while Kurt was around.

The thing about the Unplugged album is that, even though it came out after Kurt's death, there was still such a short turnaround between the recording and the release that it feels logically successive with the rest of their catalog. Even "Wishkah" -- as a finished product it's pretty disappointing, but the concept of it doesn't feel inappropriate to me: a sort of photo album compiled by those who were involved with the band while they were active, meant to serve as a sort of cap on the band's career. And "You Know You're Right" was a nice surprise.

I think "With the Lights Out" really set a bad precedent for what qualifies as compelling, releasable work by this band, and from what I have heard of "Montage of Heck," it takes this bad precedent to its unfortunate extreme. I clamor for archival stuff as much as the next fan, but seeing all the crud that has come out under Nirvana's name really does make you appreciate the virtue in a lean, undiluted catalog containing 3-4 awesome albums and nothing more.

I havent seen it either. Just something about it came across ugly when it was being promoted....and im not just talking about Courtney's boob acne here.
