Re: The Official MMA Thread
Rousey chased her too much. Plus, didn't know how to react to getting hit that much in one round.

Rousey looked fat compared to the other woman. Too much hanging out in hollywood and talking shit on Twitter. Pride comes before the fall...

Anybody comparing this to Buster Douglas is a fucking idiot. Tyson was 37-0 and had a few unanimous decisions that went the distant where he took some punishment. Rousey had basically never taking a serious "shot" her entire career.

It's true. She had already looked passed Holm as an obvious win and said she was going to retire soon.verb_to_trust wrote:Rousey looked fat compared to the other woman. Too much hanging out in hollywood and talking shit on Twitter. Pride comes before the fall...

Re: The Official MMA Thread

**UFC 193 will go down in history as the card with one of the most famous fights of the current generation and one of the biggest in UFC history. Holly Holm was viewed as a massive underdog going into this fight although lots of late money came in on Holm right up until the fight. What occurred in the bout was a game plan from Holm that was air tight and gave Rousey no ability to change on the fly or deal with the pressure and strategy that Holm provided. Holm was so calm from the moment she jogged out to the cage and all the way through the fight. The key was the ability to constantly land with her left hands and then circle out from danger, an ability to keep her feet planted when Rousey attempted to throw her and escaping one armbar attempt with relative ease. The head kick to Rousey will be replayed millions of times over the next few months and led to the finish and the upset by Holm, who becomes the first blemish on the mixed martial arts career of Rousey.
Now comes the discussion on the next steps that Rousey will take and her decision will curb the direction of the championship in 2016. The obvious choice is the immediate rematch and holding it at UFC 200, which given all the elements at play should be the biggest UFC pay-per-view ever. The story of Rousey coming off the first loss of her career and challenging for the title after the loss to Holm will be such a big fight. We probably won't hear anything from Rousey for some time as there are many aspects she is going to have to address in her career and how viable a sustained run is at this point in her life. Rousey is scheduled for countless movie projects in 2016 but had always said that UFC 200 was her plan to fight at, whether this changes those plans is the issue.
The UFC announced a new company attendance record of 56,214 at Etihad Stadium and live gate of $6,800,000. Because of the original figure of 70,000 being thrown out as the goal, somehow 56,000+ is viewed as a disappointment by certain people. One thing is certain when it comes to big stadium events from the UFC is that the “feel” of the stadium never translates well on television and during the course of the fight you never have the feel that it is a giant stadium they are in. Below are the full results of the show:
*Ben Nguyen over Ryan Benoit by rear-naked choke at 2:35 of Round 1
*James Moontasri over Anton Zafir by TKO at 4:36 of Round 1
*Richard Walsh over Steve Kennedy by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
*Dan Kelly over Steve Montgomery by unanimous decision (29-28 all)
*Danny Martinez over Richie Vaciluk by unanimous decision (30-27 all)
*Gian Villante over Anthony Perosh by KO at 2:56 of Round 1
*Kyle Noke over Peter Sobotta by TKO at 2:01 of Round 1
*Jake Matthews over Akbarh Arreola by TKO (doctor stoppage) at 5:00 of Round 2
*Jared Rosholt over Stefan Struve by unanimous decision (29-28 all)
*Robert Whittaker over Uriah Hall by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
*Mark Hunt over Antonio Silva by TKO at 3:41 of Round 1
*Joanna Jedrzejczyk over Valerie Letourneau by unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 49-46) to retain the women’s strawweight title
*Holly Holm over Ronda Rousey by KO at 0:59 of Round 2 to win the women’s bantamweight title
**The Fight of the Night bonus went to Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey and the performance bonuses to Holly Holm and Kyle Noke, all for $50,000.
**The UFC announced today that Ronda Rousey’s CT scan came back fine and was treated for a cut lip and did received some stitches. Rousey did stay overnight at the local hospital in Melbourne.
**The UFC returns next weekend in Monterrey, Mexico for the TUF Latin America Season 2 Finale, which is headlined by a welterweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Neil Magny.
**The UFC’s upcoming card in Seoul, South Korea took another major hit with headliner Thiago Alves out of his fight with Benson Henderson after suffering a rib injury in training. MMA Fighting has reported that Jorge Masvidal has been inserted into the main event with Henderson and leaves his original opponent, Dong Hyun Kim will now be fighting Dominic Waters at the UFC Fight Night event. Kim was scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal on the card but Masvidal was moved to the main event to fight Benson Henderson. Earlier this week, Mirko Cro Cop had to withdraw from the card with a shoulder injury and it was later revealed he was facing a possible violation under USADA and Cro Cop has announced his retirement, leaving Anthony Hamilton without an opponent for the show as well.
**During a Q&A, UFC president Dana White stated that the new weight division that the promotion will add is a female 125-pound weight class, but it is a ways off from being introduced.
**WSOF president Ray Sefo announced on Inside MMA on AXS TV that the vacant welterweight title will be decided on April 1st when Jake Shields and Jon Fitch fight for the title. The title was stripped from Rousimar Palhares after his win over Shields this past August and held onto the fight ending kimura too long. Palhares has since been suspended for two-years by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
Dong Hyun Kim will now be fighting Dominic Waters at the UFC Fight Night event on November 28th in Seoul, South Korea. Kim was scheduled to fight Jorge Masvidal on the card but Masvidal was moved to the main event to fight Benson Henderson after Thiago Alves suffered a rib injury and had to withdraw from the fight.

In that matador .gif she looks like some drunk fighting in the ally outside of a bar. So what are these movie projects in 2016 we all have to look forward to?

**MGM has announced that they are re-booting the classic film “Road House” and that Ronda Rousey will be starring in the main role as a bouncer, which is the role that was played by Patrick Swayze in the 1989 original. Filming is scheduled to begin in 2016 and next year is already looking to be a packed one for Rousey on the film front. She will begin filming the Peter Berg project, “Mile 22” next February along with the biopic that is based on her autobiography and a film called “The Athena Project” that she is also set to star in. It is not known if all four projects will be in production throughout 2016, but regardless it is a question if Rousey will be able to do UFC 200 next July and put a full fight camp together with so many commitments outside of the UFC being lined up.
