What movies are you watching?

John Dies in the End. Reeks of purposely trying to be "so bad its good". Its funny to see Giamatti in it though, acting opposite the lead guy who has all the acting ability of a tree stump. Really interesting to see just how much difference great acting makes. At first I thought that this was his relative's movie or something, and that was the only reason he showed up in this shitfest and co-produced it, but it turns out he actually likes these movies.

The only part I liked was the dog driving a truck through a house.

A really cool b movie. I love this director.

Anybody seen The Impossible, the Naomi Watts/Ewan McGregor tsunami movie? Not bad but it felt like a really well done Lifetime movie of the week. While I liked it overall the sum didn't up to the parts. The wave hits early on, within 15 minutes and whole sequence is well executed. Some touching and moving scenes of separations and reuniting and not necessarily expected ones. The kid actor who plays the oldest son, about 14 at the time, stood out as doing a particularly good job.

Yeah, I liked it. I agree with you, though, it felt a little cloying at times, particularly towards the end. But that tsunami sequence is pretty amazing. Mostly, I was just incredibly depressed about the fact that this all actually happened.

i liked that sequence...the sound design is good. But the movie was boring as hell for me.

Saw Full Metal Jacket at the theatre yesterday. First time seeing it and I thought it was pretty great. I would say that the last quarter of the movie kinda of squandered the whole things potential though.
